Abstract
Digital transformation has fundamentally changed the relationship between businesses and consumers by shifting marketing activities from predominantly one-way communication toward interactive, data-driven, personalized, and increasingly automated engagement. Social media platforms, personalization technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI) have become major components of contemporary marketing strategies and significantly influence how consumers discover, evaluate, purchase, and engage with products and brands. This paper examines the impact of social media marketing, personalization, and AI on consumer behaviour using a systematic literature review and conceptual analytical approach. It evaluates their influence on consumer awareness, engagement, trust, purchase intention, satisfaction, loyalty, electronic word-of-mouth, and decision-making. The analysis suggests that social media can strengthen consumer-brand interaction and facilitate social influence, while personalization can increase perceived relevance and improve customer experiences when supported by appropriate data practices. AI contributes through recommendation systems, predictive analytics, conversational agents, dynamic content generation, customer segmentation, and marketing automation. However, these technologies also create challenges involving privacy, data security, algorithmic bias, transparency, misinformation, excessive personalization, and consumer manipulation concerns. The paper proposes an integrated conceptual framework in which social-media engagement, perceived personalization, and AI-enabled service quality influence consumer trust and customer experience, which subsequently affect purchase intention and loyalty. The study concludes that digital marketing is most effective when technological capabilities are combined with consumer value, transparency, privacy protection, credible communication, and responsible AI governance.
